The German Football Association (Deutsche Fußballbund - DFB) is planning the development of a "DFB Academy" in Frankfurt. This institution will provide a venue for such things as basic and advanced training courses and preparatory courses for the elite teams of the DFB, including the national A squad. The Academy will thus represent a central, future-oriented building block for the development and consolidation of the ultimate quality in German football. In agreement with the City of Frankfurt, the Academy is due to be created on the site of the existing racecourse. In order to clarify the fundamental, location-specific framework conditions and the conceptual feasibility of the plan, AS+P was commissioned with preparing a sample development plan. Taking into consideration the structural specificities of the location and project, AS+P came up with five extensive usage concepts by way of an alternative perspective; each was evaluated to establish how closely they align with the DFB's plans and subjected to an approximate risk assessment. For two of the alternatives a structural concept was also developed, providing examples of the structural implementation of the usage and functional aspects. A comparative evaluation led to the establishment of one framework concept that is set to form the basis of the following planning phases (competitions, awarding of contracts, etc.).
