In the framework of CENTRICO (Central European Region Transport Telematics Implementation Co-ordination), a number of Europe's central regions have been organized since 1996 in order to coordinate the introduction of telematic transport systems on the TERN (Trans-European Road Network) across borders; to promote harmonization of the various systems; and to make possible a system of traffic management across borders. CENTRICO is an implementation project and will be financially sponsored by the Commission of the European Union (DG TREN) under the Ten T Line.

CENTRICO encompasses the regions: Belgium, North France, the Netherlands, Southeast England, Luxembourg and the federal states Nordrhein-Westfalen, Rheinland-Pfalz, Hessen, Saarland, with Germany's Federal Ministry for Traffic, Building, and Urban Affairs.
