AS+P Managing Director Joachim Schares still a member of the Ghorfa Presidium
At the Executive Board and General Meeting of Ghorfa Arab-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry on June 25, Dr. Peter Ramsauer, retd. German Federal Minister, was re-appointed President for a further three years, and Abdulaziz Al Mikhlafi for four years as General Secretary. AS+P Managing Partner Joachim Schares will continue to be a member of the Ghorfa Committee for another three years.
The Ghorfa fosters cooperation between Arab countries and the Federal Republic of Germany in the areas of trade, industry, finance and investments, but also promotes international understanding, and amongst other things through delegation trips and events attended by important figures seeks to create the best possible general conditions for German-Arabic business activities. For example, on the occasion of the 21st Arab-German Business Forum from June 25 to 27, renowned decision-makers from the realms of politics and business met in Berlin to further cultivate business relations between Germany and the Arab countries. Alongside guest of honor H. H. Sheikh Jaber Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, Prime Minister of the State of Kuwait and representative of this year’s partner country, other speakers at the opening included patron Peter Altmaier, the German Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy. In the panel discussion “Infrastructure Megaprojects: Government as an Enabler for Inclusive Growth” AS+P Managing Director Joachim Schares explained, using Badya City as an example, how interdisciplinary collaboration, integrated modular systems and the early deployment of digital tools can contribute to the creation of sustainable, user-oriented smart cities and enable rapid economic planning and construction processes. AS+P worked with an interdisciplinary team in planning the 1,260-hectare large development Badya City for Palm Hills Developments as part of the strategic urban expansion zone of Cairo.
