AS+P plans residential development east of Honsellstrasse with a daycare facility for children and expansive retail spaces

On Wednesday construction work started in the area of the former Osthafen in the immediate proximity of the European Central Bank in Frankfurt/Main. Head of the City of Frankfurt Planning Department Mike Josef was joined by Martin Teigeler, AS+P partner and member of its Executive Board, Thorsten Testorp, managing partner of the "B&L Gruppe" and Alf M. Prasch, Managing Director of the architecture office prasch buken partner architekten partG mbB, and Anton Prossliner, Managing Director of the general contractor SWIETELSKY Baugesellschaft. They together laid the symbolic first brick in a ceremony attended by representatives of the press and invited guests.

A new city quarter is to be realized in the east of Frankfurt at "Honsell triangle" in line with a masterplan developed by AS+P. The first stage of the new development will evolve on an elongated construction site east of Honsellstrasse where AS+P together with Hamburg architecture office pbp prasch buken partner, will realize two perimeter structures with a total of 316 rental apartments.

A building designed by AS+P and featuring an interesting mixed usage will be constructed in the north of the site facing Hanauer Landstrasse. The upper floors will accommodate 134 high-quality rental apartments for single persons, couples and families. The podium will be devoted to retail spaces, a cafe and a kindergarten for 120 children. Not only will this serve to vitalize the ground floor zone it will also be hugely helpful in providing future occupants of Hafenpark district with amenities. Making a new precedent for Frankfurt, the kindergarten's outdoor playground is located in an interior courtyard on the roof of a retail outlet and thus creates a new way of integrating children's nurseries.
