Hessentag 2010

Stadtallendorf, Germany, 2008 - 2009

Location analysis for large-scale parking lots, development of a quantitative framework, detailed traffic routing concept, parking facility organization, signage concept, shuttle traffic schemes

  • Client: City of Stadtallendorf
  • Timeframe: 2008 - 2009

In 2010, the city of Stadtallendorf will host the 50th Hessentag. As previous years have shown, large numbers of visitors are expected for the ten day state festival. The two planned open air concerts alone are expected to attract up to 40,000 people. Such attendance numbers will place a large amount of pressure of organizers in terms of transportation (public and private motorized traffic).

As high importance is placed on private traffic, a large number of parking spaces are to be allocated on the one hand, and on the other, driving to and from parking facilities is to be facilitated with minimal difficulty. In addition, special traffic concerns exist (e.g. the handicapped, VIP's, exhibitors, etc.) which have to take the demands of emergency routes and general pedestrian guidance into consideration.
