Ideas Competition Downtown Augsburg
Augsburg, Germany, 2009
- Client: City of Augsburg
- Timeframe: 2009
In the course of the upcoming reorganization of the local transportation in downtown Augsburg, an interdisciplinary ideas competition was carried out by the city of Augsburg. The competition attracted teams of architects / urban planners, landscape architects and transportation planners. The objective of the ideas competition was the development of an integrated concept for city areas and the mobility of all modes of transportation. The development area encompasses the entire downtown Augsburg area, focusing on the around 400 ha area of the historic old town and the central train station periphery.
AS+P Albert Speer + Partner were assigned to carry out the competition proceedings regarding the organization and content.
In addition to technical support, AS+P's task also encompassed, in particular, the organization and moderation of important meetings, such as the judge's preliminary conference, inquiry colloquium and the jury meeting.
As the outcome of this competition was derived from a citizens' initiative, prompted for this purpose, it was important to inform the public regarding the competition process. Thus, AS+P supported the City of Augsburg in the preparation and execution of the press conference, exhibition as well as publicizing the competition process and outcomes. Furthermore, for this reason, AS+P created a brochure for the public describing the competition process.
