Project Proposal SIM-TD - Test Area Germany
Frankfurt/Main, Germany, 2007 - 2008
- Client: City of Frankfurt am Main
- Timeframe: 2007 - 2008

Focus of the project SIM-TD (Safe and intelligent mobility - testing area Germany) is the testing of vehicle communication. In the region of Frankfurt / Rhine-Main for the first time is tested data exchange between vehicles among themselves and between vehicles and transport infrastructure under everyday life conditions. Due to timely warning, drivers in future are able to react faster and in a more secure manner to hazardous situations like accidents, traffic congestions or slippery roads. Additionally, traffic control centres can generate a more accurate image of the actual traffic situation and are able to react with appropriate measures. Therefore, testing vehicles are equipped with "Car Communication Units". They communicate via W-LAN, UMTS or via "Road Side Units" with infrastructure installations respectively.
Many companies of the German automotive industry are joining the project. Contact platform is managed by three German federal ministries: BMBF (Ministry of Science), BMWI (Ministry of Economics) and BMVBS (Ministry of Transport). Deutsche Telekom, the "Hessische Landesamt für Straßen- und Verkehrswesen" and the city of Frankfurt are joining the project. AS+P supports the city of Frankfurt during the application period.

AS+P is reassessing all functions with regard to technical practicability, working out the project definition, planning resource allocation and generating the project proposal.
