Green light for construction of “Badya City”

From master plan and architecture to landscape planning: After a four-year conception period, the “Integrated Planning of Badya City” project developed by AS+P is now entering the construction stage. The client, Palm Hills Developments, tasked Julius Berger International GmbH in Wiesbaden with the local management of the project.

The ceremonial signing of the contract took place in the Badya showroom in 6th of October near Cairo. Alongside Joachim Schares, managing director of AS+P, Yasseen Mansour, chairman of Palm Hills Developments, and Karsten Hensel, CEO of Julius Berger International, the Egyptian Minister of Education Khaled Abdel Ghaffar and the deputy minister of the Ministry of Housing Khaled Abbas, also attended. In his introductory address, Schares emphasized AS+P’s long-standing commitment to this ambitious project. Both he and Mansour also highlighted the Iconic Award the project had recently won as the Best of Best winner in the category Concept; the German Design Council honored the project, stating that this was an “intelligent, sustainably planned, and outstanding solution of strong exemplary character”. The prize will be awarded this October during the Expo Real in the Pinakothek in Munich.
