Devoted to sport through and through: Friedbert Greif receives the “Pyramid of Honor”
Stiftung Deutsche Sporthilfe (the German Sports Aid Foundation) has honored AS+P’s Managing Partner with an award for his many years’ commitment as a member of the Board of Trustees. The ceremony took place in Berlin as part of the meeting of the Board of Trustees.
“Enjoying sports has played a major role in my entire life. Achievement, fair play and the feeling of being involved in something together with other people are values which are also very important in my day-to-day activities. Sports brings generations and cultures together, overcomes hurdles and fills people with enthusiasm for a joint undertaking – for me, this is of the greatest significance. It is particularly important to me to give back a small bit of what sports, and all the athletes, has given me on any number of occasions, in gratitude and via my commitment to sports aid,” is how Friedbert Greif comments on the honor he has received from the German Sports Aid Foundation.
For 15 years now Greif has been a member of the Board of Trustees and, together with other funding agencies from the fields of business, society and politics, has been involved in the German Sports Aid Foundation, which was established back in 1967. The Foundation helps athletes to plan their careers by coming up with creative concepts – an objective that AS+P also pursues with its involvement in the initiative “Sprungbrett Zukunft – Sport & Karriere” (Springboard Future – Sport & Career). After all, athletes are always faced with the difficult question of how to reconcile their careers as sports personalities with the time-consuming training and competition phases that an athlete is always faced with. With its “short-term internships” program, AS+P offers athletes valuable insights into working life and, on top of this, the opportunity to develop their interests, to acquire an initial understanding of business, and to make some important contacts.
With projects such as bids for national and international Olympic Games and for other major sporting events, with planning for the large area of “sports infrastructure” or the concepts for Germany’s accommodation at PyeongChang 2018 and at Tokyo 2020 for Deutsche Sport Marketing GmbH, in many respects sports are part of the AS+P planners’ happy daily working lives.
