“The second strategic meeting was an extremely successful and an important step toward realizing the Baku General Plan,” said a satisfied Friedbert Greif. Aside from the AS+P planners the meeting was attended by various ministries, government committees, local agencies as well as national and international experts from relevant sectors.

At a panel discussion in the auditorium the AS+P team spoke together with the partners of EY, Ramboll and BDLI to participants about the capital’s potential future development areas taking into account the historical legacy, an affordable technical communication infrastructure, sustainable ecology and the integration of public transport networks with a focus on the underground and a modern urban economy.

According to Anar Guliyev, Acting Vice Chairman of SCUPA, the masterplan sets out important urban planning approaches, possible solutions and strategies and will probably be completed by the end of 2020 – at which point a plan will be presented to the government.
