The developers, the architects and representatives of the executing construction companies all gathered for yesterday’s ceremony to mark the start of the next phase in the new quarter under construction in Frankfurt’s Ostend district.

In their capacity as developers, the B&L Gruppe, represented by Managing Partner Thorsten Testorp and Director Bernhard Visker, were the hosts for this special ceremony. Guests included AS+P director Martin Teigeler, whose address referred to the contribution the new district is making to meeting the demand for housing in Frankfurt. The latter shortage is something still very much in evidence, despite COVID. Another of the topics he discussed was the business hotel, in this case called a “meeting park”, a type of building that is new to Frankfurt. With more than 500 room, this particular meeting park is being realized for the Scandic brand.

Some 280 high-end condos, 11 townhouses and a congress/business hotel boasting approx. 500 rooms are currently under construction on the south plot of the former “Honselldreieck” in a central location in one of Frankfurt’s downtown quarters right by the ECB. Along with the apartment buildings on Honsellstrasse completed about one and a half years ago, around 600 apartments are thus currently in the process of being erected by AS+P in Frankfurt’s Ostend district as part of joint ventures.

Nine years ago, AS+P were commissioned by the B&L Group to draw up a master plan as part of an urban development study for the “Honselldreieck” and its immediate vicinity. The company was subsequently responsible for planning most of the architecture, to a certain extent as part of joint ventures. Construction of the relevant apartments was finished in May last year; the completion date for the condos and the hotel is scheduled for the beginning of 2023.

The topping-out ceremony is festively staged.
