A Milestone in Aviation and Architecture: The Lufthansa Lockheed Super Star has landed

Arrival of the Lockheed Super Star
Welcome at the New Lufthansa Conference and Visitor Center in Frankfurt am Main, designed by AS+P
The spectacular transfer of this legendary aircraft thrilled aviation enthusiasts and marked a truly special moment for us at AS+P Albert Speer + Partner. We are proud to have taken on the planning responsibility for this extraordinary building. While Lufthansa showcases an iconic piece of aviation history with the Super Star, we had the privilege of creating the architectural setting for it.
The light-filled new building, designed in the style of an aircraft hangar, will become an architectural symbol of the Lufthansa Group’s spirit of innovation and technical expertise – a place that not only fosters encounters but also brings history to life.
This multifunctional venue is intended to reflect the pioneering spirit and expertise of its client. In addition to exhibition areas and a coffee lounge, it will offer space for events hosting several hundred guests. It will be a hub for exchange among employees, business partners, and aviation enthusiasts – while also mirroring current developments in the world of work and communication.
The arrival of the Super Star into the building was both a technical and logistical masterpiece – carefully considered by AS+P together with the reassembling team and Lufthansa early in the concept phase, and now impressively realised. All that’s missing now is “Tante Ju” to complete the ensemble. Both aircraft will be permanently exhibited in the hall, which stands over 17 metres high, offering a tangible experience of aviation history.
