At this year's "14th Biennale of European Towns and Town Planners", Lutz Krämer-Heid and Svenja Knuffke presented AS+P's current services in support of the sustainable reconstruction of the Ahr Valley. Now their article "Sustainable reconstruction of the Ahr Valley in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany" has been published in an accompanying catalogue – highlighting the local conditions as well as the opportunities and challenges of their holistic planning approach whose guard rails are resilience and adaptation.
AS+P has continuously advised the municipality of Altenahr, which was severely affected by the flood disaster in 2021, on urban development and planning law issues since January 2022 and was available to the administration as a competent partner for numerous specialised questions. Among other deliverables, an overarching urban development guiding concept was created, which prospectively defines the fundamental planning direction of the municipality.
Furthermore, a collection of ideas on "flood-resilient building culture" was developed together with local planning offices.
At the initiative and on behalf of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate, AS+P has been supporting the flood-damaged local communities along the Middle Ahr as a municipal coordinator since January 2024. The municipalities are currently drawing on AS+P's expertise in 14 projects, enabling important municipal projects along the Ahr to be decisively advanced.
