Hanover Airport, general expansion plan, planning horizon 2020
As elements in the infrastructure, airports are complex systems, which, in dynamic processes, need to adapt to rapidly changing requirements by means of permanent changes. Given this scenario, the general extension plan for Hanover Airport, which was almost ten years old, and was likewise drawn up by AS+P, needed to be updated. To this end, in terms of surface area, the airport is to be developed in such a way that it is fit for the future. Non-aviation business is becoming increasingly important as an economic asset The designation of land for the development of real estate does justice to this development strategy. To enable Hanover Airport to be expanded still further in a way that it meets future requirements, the general expansion plan was conceived for a timeframe extending to 2020. The plans, which were drawn up together with the airport company, creates the framework for target-oriented expansion planning for all facility areas while avoiding conflict situations through competing facilities.
