initial topographic situation
Given the changes in international air traffic conditions and the growing demand for optimal transportation links to commercial hubs, real estate development is becoming increasingly important for airports. Airports are developing away from pure and simple transportation hubs into complex airport cities.
In this context, the airport operators Fraport AG have resolved to expand their realestate business to form a second pillar of group operations. AS+P devised a real estate master plan to form the backbone to the management of future property development - covering the entire non-aviation section of Frankfurt Airport. After analyzing basic conditions and the distribution of different uses in the overall area, development focal points were defined. Office premises, general commercial use and specific zones for logistics, forwarding and air freight will be situated in individual »districts« of the airport city. Based on the basic urban structures individual locations and specifications were proposed and drawn up for the project development phase. Various divisions of Fraport AG were involved in the integrative discussions process.
The result is a long-term concept for the development of buildings and infrastructure of all sub-sections of the airport. The Real Estate Master Plan 2025 serves as the key guideline for future relocation or outsourcing decisions.
