Hamburg Senate approves “Masterplan Active City”

On November 22, 2016 the Senate of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg approved the Masterplan Active City drawn up by AS+P and PROPROJEKT.
In the subsequent press conference Hamburg’s Sports Senator Andy Grote stated that he was satisfied that with the Masterplan he would be able to use the ideas for projects from the city’s bid for the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games in a highly promising way for sport in Hamburg. The Active City strategy, which in particular will drive forward the expansion of sports venues in the city, will be the core of the sports policy’s thrust in the next few years. The Masterplan developed in detail 26 projects in the fields of school and club sport, sport in the public domain, sport for everyone, junior competitive sport and top-level sport. These are now intended to be implemented by 2024, thereby providing new impetus for recreational and top-level sport in Hamburg.
