Only a few days after its grand opening on the 1st of August the Lufthansa Group’s Hangar One will host its first external event: the summer party of the Association of Architects and Engineers (AIV) Frankfurt.

Designed by AS+P Albert Speer + Partner who also acted as its lead designer, Hangar One adds a prestigious venue to the Lufthansa Campus as a space for conferences, events and gatherings. The new Visitor and Conference Center is a key component of the masterplan – developed by AS+P – for the long-term development of the Lufthansa site at the Frankfurt airport.

From the initial urban planning considerations, through architecture and open space planning, right through to completion, the interdisciplinary project was planned and accompanied by AS+P.

A defining feature of the building is the approximately 17.5 meters tall exhibition hall. Within its open and transparent hangar-style structure, the historic Junkers Ju 52 and Lockheed L-1649A Super Star aircraft are on permanent display and form an integral part of the architecture. This results in an extraordinary space that combines aviation history, contemporary architecture and versatile event facilities.

Since AS+P is also represented on the board of AIV Frankfurt, Hangar One was chosen as the venue for this year’s summer party, providing the ideal setting for professional exchange and socializing.
