Conference- and Visitor Centre at Frankfurt Airport
Inspired by the architecture of an aircraft hangar, the light-filled building reflects Lufthansa’s pioneering spirit and technical expertise while providing exhibition spaces and facilities for events accommodating several hundred guests.
View from the conference area into the exhibition hall
A particular highlight is the transparent façade, which offers unobstructed views of the iconic Lufthansa aircraft – the Junkers Ju 52 and the Lockheed Super Star – displayed within the more than 17-metre-high exhibition hall. Integrating the aircraft into the building required the installation process to be incorporated into the design at an early stage, alongside meticulous technical and logistical coordination.

Designed as a flexible meeting place with collaborative workspaces for Lufthansa Group employees and business partners, the centre responds to evolving ways of communication, collaboration and workplace use. A sustainable energy concept based on renewable energy sources supports the efficient operation of the building. In addition to the architectural design, AS+P was also responsible for the landscape architecture, seamlessly integrating the building into its carefully designed surroundings.
One of the project's key challenges was its demanding delivery programme. This was successfully achieved by adopting planning processes from industrial construction and by involving the main contractor at an early stage. AS+P delivered the project as lead consultant using Building Information Modelling (BIM) throughout the entire design and delivery process.
