Urban planning design by AS+P (2010)
The site at the corner of Boschetsrieder Strasse and Drygalski Allee is in the Obersendling area in the 19th district of Munich, the capital city of Bavaria. Given the great demand for housing in Munich, BO 143 Projekt GmbH & Co. KG, together with the City of Munich, intends to develop an urban residential quarter with approx. 1,100 apartments on what are today predominantly brownfield sites. Creating an attractive residential quarter despite the desired high concentration of buildings and the difficult conditions relating to noise levels presented a particular challenge. On the basis of a concept AS+P devised in 2010, in 2012 an urban development and landscape planning realization competition was staged. The winning design served as the conceptual basis for the urban redevelopment and the compilation of the legal zoning plan. Parallel to drawing up legal zoning plan no. 2072a, AS+P Albert Speer + Partner GmbH, in close cooperation with the client, the City of Munich, and GEWOFAG Holding GmbH (Gemeinnützige Wohnungsfürsorge AG München) also assumed responsibility for managing the legal zoning planning procedure and supervising the individual experts in the fields of transport, noise, landscape planning/protection of species, air hygiene, and climate. Munich City Council passed the legal zoning plan as a statute in December 2015.
