The Würzburger Kickers football club plays its home games at Dallenberg Stadium in Würzburg. In the 2015-6 season the club was promoted to the German second division and it therefore intends to gradually expand the stadium capacity to accommodate at least 15,000 spectators. AS+P was commissioned to inspect and analyze the existing plans for expansion, to appraise and evaluate the planning regulations with regard to possible risks to such an expansion, and to prepare an overarching functional location concept.
In this context, in particular the advantages or disadvantages of various forms of expansion (solid structure, steel pipe structure, combinations), the relevant timeframes, and the economic impact on the planning were presented to the client and then discussed. Furthermore, in consultation with the client the parameters pertaining to the capacity expansion, i.e., spectator targets, the ratio of seating to standing spaces, the gradual completion of the work, the type and extent of hospitality, as well as functional and operational areas were determined. The parameters were then adjusted to conform to site-specific circumstances. On the basis of this preliminary assessment AS+P then deduced what structural measures were necessary and the impact they would have on the location. Likewise, it defined what requirements the location and surroundings made as regards event-specific transportation. The associated realization risk was also evaluated.
