The METRASYS project - Sustainable Mobility for Megacities is one of ten projects supported by the BMBF within the scope of the focal point of support: "Research for the Sustainable Development of the Megacities of Tomorrow". With its focus on mobility and transportation, the project deals with one of most pressing issues in current and future metropolitan regions. In Hefei, the Capital of the Anhui Province, the current urban and transportation plans had been studied and further developed, together with the local partners. The resulting outcomes had been the basis for the establishment of a Transportation Management Center. The establishment of this center was carried out according to latest scientific knowledge and was intended for the planning of sustainable development, taking the "financeability" as well as the emission trading method, Clean Development Mechanism (CDM), into consideration. Further project partners had been the German Aerospace Center (DLR), the Frauhenhofer Institute, the Wuppertal Institute and the Freie Universität Berlin. The first project phase consisting of development and implementation was completed in 2013. Within this consortium, AS+P was concerned with the applied execution and assessment of transportation field tests as well as developing proposals for the environmentally-sound and sustainable urban development of Hefei.
