Living Street
As part of the master planning process for the Dumat Al Jandal Shorelines development in Al Jouf, AS+P has developed a comprehensive mobility concept that creates a walkable, micromobility and shared transport focused network while shaping neighborhoods as low‑speed, human‑scaled environments defined by shaded Living Streets and a 10‑minute city approach.
Mobility and Access Strategy
A site‑wide network of promenades, boardwalks, nature trails, lake loops, and horse‑riding paths creates seamless connections between the Lakeside Cluster, Downtown Core, residential neighborhoods, and the Hotel Cluster. Integrated mobility hubs for shared bikes, e‑bikes, scooters and electric golf carts expand mobility choices and get managed through the Resort App.
A clear road hierarchy was developed to ensures efficient vehicular access while reinforcing pedestrian‑first principles. The parking strategy proposes public parking consolidated at site entrances combined with shared parking allowance to keep private vehicles at the perimeter and reduce land consumption.
Beyond internal circulation, the mobility framework links the development to the regional context through a layered transport system. A cable car connection between the lakeshore and the historic city center offers a direct, car‑free link and a unique visitor attraction, complemented by external on‑demand shuttle services connecting to the airport, train station, and nearby cities.
Together, the mobility concept caters for a low‑carbon, car‑independent mobility experience that allows residents and visitors to explore the lakefront, neighborhoods and heritage sites comfortably without relying on private vehicles.
