AS+P was commissioned by Eintracht Frankfurt Stadion GmbH and the City of Frankfurt to develop a master plan for the Deutsche Bank Park site. The subject of the master planning was the integration of a multifunctional arena into the grounds of the existing sports and event complex in connection with the development of a location and functional concept at the P9 site, relocation of the guest parking lot currently located there, and the associated reorganization of access routes and usage intensities in the vicinity of the site. The scope of services on the part of AS+P also included preparing a market and demand analysis in connection with a planning law investigation, as well as assessing and evaluating the compatibility of the conceptually envisaged measures, in particular with regard to transportation issues, the neighborhood, the surroundings, and existing green and open spaces.
In this context, the conceptual approach developed for the new multifunctional arena offers space for up to 15,000 spectators and serves not only sports events (ice hockey, basketball) but also other event uses (concerts, shows, etc.). The location of a multifunctional arena on P9 goes hand in hand with the safety-optimized relocation of the guest parking lot on the immediate periphery of the guest sector of the stadium, intensification of use of the forest parking lot by means of individual parking decks, and barrier-free optimization of the existing pedestrian bridge connections across Mörfelder Landstrasse, which will strengthen and sustainably develop Deutsche Bank Park in its overriding importance as an event location.
