The celebrations of the 25th Day of German Unity took place in Frankfurt am Main from October 2nd to 4th 2015. The various venues along the river Main and in the city centre were mostly in the public space. Therefore, many measures affecting the road and public transport infrastructure (e.g. road blockings) were required during the event as well as during the assembly and dismantling phase. The scope of AS&P while preparing the transportation concept included the planning, coordination and documentation of the measures regarding the transportation system. Special requirements were the assurance of the mobility of visitors and residents, as well as the integration of the security requirements of the official protocol. To optimize the traffic situation during the event, all existing transport modes and option were considered. The main issues of the transportation concept were the required partial or complete closures of roads and parking garages, the indicating signs, parking for private cars and buses, taxi stands, bicycle parking and the technical input of the public relations work. The transportation concept was coordinated with a working group consisting of representatives of several municipal offices (Road Traffic Department, Civil Engineering Office, Service-Center Events), the fire department, the police department, the event agency Roth & Lorenz (currently: Follow Red - Branding Experiences) and traffiQ (Frankfurt’s public transport authority).
