Four planning approaches and a budget: At the beginning of November in the course of a feasibility study commissioned by the town of Emsdetten, AS+P presented the first detailed planning ideas to the Municipal Committee for Urban Development, Economic Affairs and Housing.

The feasibility study was commissioned in the spring out of a need to develop two sporting venues that are of great importance for the town of Emsdetten and which need to cater to the various requirements of the sports club TV Emsdetten 1898 e.V., the handball activities of TVE-Marketing GmbH, the football club SpVg Emsdetten 05 e.V. (plays at Salvus stadium) as well as the needs of two schools, namely Gymnasium Martinum and Wilhelmschule (both adjacent to the site of the games and sports hall/indoor swimming pool).

Matthias Schöner and Fabian Schäfer presented three planned versions based on scenarios for the venue at the games and sports hall/swimming pool close to the center as well as for the Salvus stadium site.

Location Sports hall/Swimming pool:

Version one envisages the creation of a TVE campus and a triple partition sports center with space for 300 spectators. One advantage of this version is that the services offered by the TVE sports club could be bundled on the site of the current games and sports center (SSH) in Emsdetten, close to the city center. Moreover, both the indoor and outdoor space requirements can be covered by the adjacent Martinum-Gymnasium.

Version two would involve the construction of a large sports hall that can accommodate 3,000 spectators in conjunction with a multi-story car park. It would primarily serve the handball activities foreseen by TVE-Marketing GmbH as well as providing a sports venue for the adjacent school Martinum-Gymnasium.

Version three is also based on realizing a large sports center seating 3,000 spectators and a multi-story car park, but in addition would entail integrating a somewhat smaller TVE campus, which in turn would significantly reduce the amount of usable open space in the surrounding area.

Location Salvus stadium:

At the Salvus stadium site the AS+P team elaborated a planning approach which provides a sports club center for the running community, the tennis scene, the Emsdetten 05 football club, as well as a TVE campus in a roadside structure.

The findings of the feasibility study were presented to the Municipal Committee for Schools and Education on November 7. Subsequently, on November 17 they will be presented to the Committee for Culture, Sports and Leisure and then further discussed by the political decision-makers.
