The FRANKFURT WESTSIDE master plan submitted by AS+P was selected from a total of 89 entries to be shortlisted for the prize “Exemplary Buildings in the State of Hessen 2023” and was viewed by the international jury during a site visit in May.

One reason why the project has attracted so much attention is the sustainable use of gray infrastructure. At the official ceremony for the “Award for Exemplary Buildings in the State of Hessen” in the Hessen Ministry of Finance on July 14, 2023, in Wiesbaden the AS+P entry was awarded a certificate. In addition, the FRANKFURT WESTSIDE master plan is presented in detail in the Sustainability Paper 4 of the Hessen Chamber of Architects and Urban Planners (“Connecting Society, City and Country – Social, Green Blue and Gray Infrastructures for the Future”).

The prize “Exemplary Buildings in the State of Hessen – State Prize for Architecture and Urban Planning“ is awarded every three years by the State of Hessen, represented by the Hessen Ministry of Finance and the Hessen Chamber of Architects and Urban Planners. This long-standing and renowned award has been bestowed since 1954. In 2021, AS+P’s contribution for the “New Ludwigshöhe Quarter” in Darmstadt was recognized in the “Neighborhood Planning and Urban Development Category of the “Exemplary Buildings in the State of Hessen”. Among the prizewinners, the project covering a site converted to accommodate 3,100 inhabitants, was the only one already in the planning stage. The AS+P team would like to congratulate the City of Frankfurt/Main and CITYFÖRSTER, who this year received a distinction for their contribution “Closed Loop Quarters. Between Taunus and Frankfurt”. AS+P had prepared the preparatory study on the urban planning development measure for this proposal.
