This year's winners at the Iconic Awards 2023 are as diverse as AS+P's range of services: The new office and ProfiCamp of Eintracht Frankfurt Fußball AG, a national German architectural project was honored twice at once, and with the "Baku General Master Plan 2040", the strategic development for a polycentric, resilient and sustainable city, the jury of the German Design Council awarded one of AS+P´s outstanding international regional planning project. The planning team from the AS+P office in Shanghai, China, which was represented at the Iconic Awards for the first time, was also successful with the "Yangpu Riverfront South Comprehensive Master Plan" project. This is the tenth time AS+P has won an award in this prestigious international competition.

The ProfiCamp of Eintracht Frankfurt Fußball AG was praised as "Winner" in the category "Innovative Architecture" and received "Selection" in the category "Innovative Material". The sustainably designed building complex at AS+P´s hometown Frankfurt/Main impressed with its mixed-use concept, rear-ventilated ceramic façade and landscaped outdoor facilities. The "Baku General Master Plan 2040" was the "Winner" in the "Concept" category as a leading example project for the transformation of a monocentric urban agglomeration into a smart region with strong polycentric structures.

AS+P´s project partners Katharina Weber-Ott and Stefanie Wladika were proudly receiving the prizes at the award gala at BMW Welt in Munich: "We are very pleased about the multiple recognition that our projects are getting among all the exceptional work submitted worldwide", says Katharina Weber-Ott and Stefanie Wladika adds "Yes indeed, and we especially thank our interdisciplinary teams who made this success possible in the first place. This is a great achievement for us architects and planners at AS+P".

All the greater was the joy this year that the AS+P colleagues in Shanghai won the "Selection" award in the "Concept" category for the planning of the southern Riverside in Yangpu, a benchmark revitalisation in Shanghai, China, on their very first participation.

About the winning projects:

The New Eintracht Frankfurt Fussball AG club offices and “ProfiCamp”, an office and administration also featuring sporting facilities building and completed in 2021, was built in keeping with Passivhaus standards and is located to the south-east of Frankfurt's Deutsche Bank Park. Two square, staggered structures with two inner courtyards provide space for offices, a non-public staff restaurant, press and conference rooms, a large fitness and training area and a cinema room for match analysis. Thanks to a sustainable, efficient energy concept, approx. 783 tons of CO2 per year are saved. A rear-ventilated ceramic façade was used as cladding for almost the entire building complex, with a black and white colour scheme as an interpretation of Eintracht Frankfurt´s club colours. At the same time, it creates a successful link to the design concept of the outdoor facilities.

As part of the Baku General Master Plan, the interdisciplinary AS+P team developed a strategic urban development tool, integrating all aspects such as land use, urban zoning and form, transportation, utility infrastructure, ecology and urban economy in form of one plan. This is intended to guide the future regional and urban development for the City of Baku and, in particular, to relieve the already collapsing mobility systems and the strained housing situation.

Completed in 2021, the Yangpu Riverfront South Comprehensive Master Plan will enable the organic, people-oriented revitalisation of an 800-hectare urban area on the banks of the Huangpu River for business, tourism and living. The ambitious development is intended to serve as a benchmark for urban development and as a hub for innovation, offering world-class living and working on the waterfront.
