Large-Scale Sport Events like Asian Games, World Championships or Youth Olympic Games belong to the most fascinating events worldwide. They provide the hosting city with an unparalleled chance to present itself to the world, bearing uncountable opportunities to showcase their values and visions. Abu Dhabi and the United Arab Emirates are very passionate for sports. Hence both are firmly committed to fostering sport development. Key to this is bringing the highest level of sport to the people of the region. Based on this attitude, the Abu Dhabi Sports Council (ADSC) has asked AS+P to analyse the Emirates' capability to host such an event in terms of the required venues and the auxiliary services and utilities. AS+P, together with PROPROJEKT performed an assessment of the existing sport facilities and the supporting infrastructure in the Emirate Abu Dhabi. After comprehensively analysing the inter­national requirements and a comparison to the existing "sports landscape", an integrated, yet preliminary Master Concept was developed for prospective competition venues in the cities of Abu Dhabi and Al Ain. The venue concept (based on an Asian Games Competition Programme) shows, which of the existing venues are suitable, which measures need to be carried out and which venues would have to be built additionally.
