On the site on Güterplatz Frankfurt where the Telenorma HQ used to stand, directly at the gateway to the Europaviertel, on behalf of ABG FRANKFURT HOLDING AS+P developed a masterplan for an 8-story perimeter block, identifying two possible sites for the high-rise. The entire project was realized by three architecture practices, with AS+P not only handling the overall coordination, but also designing the 8-story perimeter block, which has a GFA of approx. 35,000 m². The plan foresaw a total of 259 2-5-room apartments, of which 22 were destined to have subsidized rents. Moreover, the multifunctional complex also included a four-wing childcare center and a supermarket. There is a three-level underground carpark beneath the building ensemble positioned directly adjacent to the building’s central shaft and linked to all the staircases in the block. The façade of the high-rise boasts an extraordinarily varied structure, with the main elements consisting of two clearly discernible avant-corps as well as protruding oriels and indents for loggias. The block’s two-story podium comes with a ceramic façade, while the stories above have rendering in contrasting tones. The loggias have chared parapets that provide additional structuring of the façade and, furthermore, in combination with the noise-protection glazing make a strong contribution to the building’s overall noise insulation. The building fulfills the Passivhaus standard and all the apartments feature mechanical ventilation. With its multifunctional nature and the public areas on the ground floor, the building makes a perceptible contribution to enlivening its urban surroundings.
