Aurelis Real Estate GmbH & Co.KG planned to develop multi-storey residential buildings in the Güterbahnhof Nord (GBN) district on construction sites D1-7 and D1-8 in Freiburg. To this end, AS+P Albert Speer + Partner (AS+P) conducted an urban development study and drew up an architectural concept plan, which organises a building volume of approx. 10,800 square metres of gross floor area (above ground) on the construction site. The building structure is based on the specifications of the development plan drawn up by AS+P and the “Revision of the Framework Plan, Güterbahnhof Nord, Freiburg”, which is being prepared at the same time in another AS+P project for aurelis.

The development consists of an L-shaped block that closes the planned block perimeter to Neunlindenstraße in the south and Paul-Ehrlich-Straße in the north-west. The building has six storeys, with the ground floor reserved for commercial use. The residential buildings will be developed as two- and three-bedroom apartments. The 80 flats are designed as 2 to 5-room flats ranging from 63 sqm to 122 sqm.
The outdoor facilities include an elaborate roof garden with pergolas and a greenhouse, as well as an inner courtyard with shelters and playgrounds.
