In the framework of CENTRICO (Central European Region Transport Telematics Implementation Co-ordination), a number of Europe's central regions have been organized since 1996 in order to coordinate the introduction of telematic transport systems on the TERN (Trans-European Road Network) across borders; to promote harmonization of the various systems; and to make possible a system of traffic management across borders. CENTRICO is an implementation project and will be financially sponsored by the Commission of the European Union (DG TREN) under the Ten T Line. CENTRICO encompasses the regions: Belgium, North France, the Netherlands, Southeast England, Luxembourg and the federal states Nordrhein-Westfalen, Rheinland-Pfalz, Hessen, Saarland, with Germany's Federal Ministry for Traffic, Building, and Urban Affairs. Beginning in January 2000, AS+P assumed responsibility for advising of the German partner of CENTRICO. Furthermore AS+P was responsible for the international coordination in the framework of the German overall project management of CENTRICO between January 2003 and August 2007. Tasks include, among others, coordination of the partners regarding the submission of project applications; project execution and supervision; the further conceptual development of the project as a whole; preparation and follow-up of workshops and meetings; content-related and technical support of the partners as well as reporting.
